Forming part of the collection of self-catering cottages at Birdsong, is Sunbird, a four-sleeper thatched rondavel situated on the upper level of the farm property. Sunbird’s two bedrooms feature Queen-size beds and graceful antique furnishings reminiscent of a bygone era. The spacious shared bathroom has a bath, shower, toilet and basin. An added bonus is a unique shower with a rustic stone wall and large glass door. The bedrooms and bathroom all lead off from the main living space. This welcoming rondavel features a high ceiling open-plan living space, decorated with an elegant stylish chandelier, sloping wooden beams and black slate floors. Large framed bird paintings take pride of place on the high walls, while comfortable rattan chairs with cream cushions are cornered around the flat screen television. A four-seater wooden antique dining table offers a cosy space to enjoy a meal. In the compact kitchenette, guests will find all the usual amenities they need to enjoy to prepare their own meals, such as fridge/freezer, two-plate stove and microwave. Also included is a kettle, toaster and a range of cutlery and crockery. It is within walking distance of the Uitkyk function venue overlooking the dams and valley below and is ideal for families with children or two couples.

Kingfisher (x1)
Kingfisher is a comfortable eight-sleeper cottage located on the lower level of the farm dams with a bird’s eye view of the dam below. Kingfisher offers standard accommodation in its four bedrooms that all lead off from the main living area. To the left are two bedrooms; the main one has a comfortable king-sized bed, while the other has two twin beds. These bedrooms have access to a shared private bathroom with bath, basin and toilet. Opposite are two bedrooms with king-size beds, percale linen and their own private en suite bathrooms with shower, toilet and basin. With its mixture of contemporary and antique furnishings, the cottage’s cosy open-plan living area features a large couch, leather tub chairs and wooden dining table with four chairs and dual-purpose wooden bench. Glass sliding doors lead out from the living area onto outside reed-covered patio.The small, but well-equipped kitchenette features a four-plate gas stove with oven, fridge/freezer combination and microwave oven. In addition, it offers other self-catering amenities including a kettle, toaster as well as crockery and cutlery. Kingfisher’s natural exterior finish melts away in the bushveld surroundings, making you feel right at home in the Waterberg setting. The outside reed-covered patio with garden furniture is ideal for relaxing and looking at the activity in the dam below. With the barbeque at hand, this is a relaxing space to enjoy the serenity of the area around the barbeque fire. Wooden screening offers additional privacy.

Lovebird (x1)
The Lovebird unit is a thatch-covered stone cottage converted from a chapel built at the Uitkyk. The comfortable bedroom is furnished with a king sized four-poster bed centred in the room with windows on either side, giving it a spacious atmosphere with plenty of light. The private bathroom leads off from the main bedroom and has a shower, toilet and basin. Please note that the unit does have a gas geyser. There is an open plan living and dining area with kitchenette, deck and sparkling splash pool overlooking the valley below. With its perfect position overlooking the rich tree life of Birdsong Cottages, Lovebird is conveniently located on the upper level of the property close to the Flycatcher Villa and Sunbird cottages. Parking is next to the reception. Access to the cottage is via a steep staircase and guests who book this unit need to note that the stairs may be problematic for guests who have problems climbing stairs or elderly and disabled guests. However, once at the front door of this gorgeous stone cottage, the entire unit is on one level, and the open plan living / dining area opens up onto a wooden deck with splash pool and breath-taking views. There is a cosy boma leading off from the deck via a short staircase. An evening beside a roaring fire in the bush can be quite romantic, especially since this unit only sleeps two guests.

Loerie Cottage (x1)
The Loerie self-catering unit is situated at the lower level at the foot of the two farm dams. The four bedrooms, each with a double bed, offer views of the surrounding bushveld and all lead off from the living area. The bathrooms, two of which are en suite, have a shower, while the third bathroom has a bath and shower. With a private entrance, patio and barbeque area, the unit boasts a modern and comfortable interior, which comprise a spacious living / dining area with kitchen, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The kitchen features a large island with a four-plate stove with oven, fridge/freezer combination and microwave oven as well as other amenities to ensure an easy self-catering experience. These include a kettle, toaster as well as crockery and cutlery. Holidaying in the heart of the bushveld does not mean that you need to stay indoors all the time as the layout of Loerie lends itself to living close to nature.
